The Charles Wilson garage was established in 1933 in the former premises of undertakers behind 2 shops. The entrance to the garage was down an alleyway.
In 1968 the garage business was sold to 2 families. The wife, Margaret Brown and her son Jason, of one of these families, now runs the garage but still under the original name of Charles Wilson. When these new owners took on the business they also bought the 2 shops in front and demolished them to enlarge the original garage. One shop was called Edna and she was a milliner that made and sold hats. The church had the same architect as Manchester Town Hall
